A plain-language grain facility glossary

Wet holding, legs, drags, reclaim and loadout.

Receiving and holding

Receiving is where grain enters the facility. Wet holding buffers grain awaiting drying. Dry storage holds grain after the intended conditioning process. These capacities serve different purposes.

Moving grain

A bucket elevator, often called a leg, raises grain. Conveyors move grain between equipment. A drag is a type of conveyor. Reclaim moves grain out of storage; loadout transfers it to outbound transport.

Scope and rates

Bu means bushels, an amount. Bph means bushels per hour, a rate. An allowance is a provisional estimate tied to assumptions. A construction-ready document is distinct from a public concept or foundation example.
